The Niho Māngō — the shark's tooth — centred on pure black. No background. No distraction. Just the tooth, exactly as it was found — serrated edges intact, root worn by salt and time, photorealistic and undeniable.

This tooth belonged to a māngō ururoa — a great white shark — hunted decades before 1 April 2007, when the species became absolutely protected in New Zealand waters. It is a piece of living history. An artefact from an era when hunters and the ocean met on different terms.

This tooth was a gift from a local Rakiura Māori — a generous act of sharing from someone deeply connected to this island and its waters. It is held with care and gratitude.

The EASTERLY East Cardinal Mark sits engraved into the root — not as branding, but as a mark of guardianship. A quiet acknowledgement that this object passed through hands that respected it.

On the back, between the shoulder blades — EASTERLY RAKIURA in white. Nothing more. Nothing less.

On the sleeve — the East Cardinal Mark. A single flash of white. For those who know what it means.

A note on the garment

Our look is rugged. We don't chase perfect — because life isn't perfect. This hoodie is made to be worn hard, washed often, and lived in fully. It will soften with every wash and carry the shape of the life you live in it. That's not wear and tear — that's character.

This is an intentionally oversized fit. If you prefer a closer fit, size down.

The fleece may shed lightly in the first few washes. This is normal and will settle. Some pilling may occur over time — that's the nature of real fleece, not a flaw.

Colours may vary slightly from screen to garment. Real fabric. Real light. Real life.

The design is printed directly onto the fabric using DTF transfer. The colours carry a soft, matte finish rather than a sharp digital look. The print area may feel slightly firmer on first wear and will soften beautifully with washing.

Care
Treat it well and it will last. Cool wash. Dry in the shade. No dryer — the island air does it better anyway.
