At Halfmoon Bay, it puts boats on the beach. Crashes waves over the wharf. Drives salt into every surface. Rusts what you've built. Costs you.
It is unwanted. Destructive. Relentless.
And the sun rises from that direction.
The east cardinal marker means one thing: The danger is here. Safe passage is to the east.
Not around the hard thing. Through it. Through the grief. The loss. The storm. That's where the wisdom is. That's where you find out who you are. That's where you become someone who can reach back and pull others through.
To look to the east is to look at the dawn of a new day. A new opportunity.
But it is also to feel the cool east wind on your body — a reminder that hard times are a given. That the wind will come. That it will change you. And that you are able to overcome whatever is challenging you.
EASTERLY is a stubborn reminder that when that sun comes up — you have another chance.
