Iridescent blues. Electric greens. Deep purples that shift as the light moves.
This is pāua — New Zealand's iconic abalone — captured in the cold, pristine waters surrounding Stewart Island/Rakiura. Treasured by Māori for centuries as both delicacy and taonga, each shell is entirely unique, shaped by southern currents and the ancient rocky coastline of one of the world's most remote islands.
The iridescence isn't decoration. It's nature's own artistry — light refracting through layers of nacre, creating colour that shifts depending on where you stand, how the light falls, what the water reveals. No two moments the same. No two shells alike.
Raw. Luminous. Unmistakably Aotearoa.
This piece brings that living colour into your space — a daily reminder of the wild, beautiful world that exists at the edge of the earth.
Fits beautifully in a living room, a hallway, or anywhere that deserves a touch of the extraordinary.
